Globes – FreemantleMedia purchases majority stake in Abot Meiri
Abot Meiri will become a development and production arm of British company FremantleMedia.
British content giant FremantleMedia, a subsidiary of Bertelsmann’s RTL Group, has acquired 51% of the shares in Israeli production company Abot Hameiri. The value of the deal is believed to amount to several million dollars. Abot Hameiri will become a FremantleMedia development and production arm, and FremantleMedia will own the Israeli formats to be developed, and will distribute them worldwide. In addition, Abot Hameiri will represent FremantleMedia in Israel.
FremantleMedia is one of the world’s largest developers and producers of formats. It owns content brands such as X Factor, Pop Idol, and Got Talent.
